Eve will talk about her augmented acoustic piano and her musical sources. By using an optical sensor that tracks the movement of piano keys, Eve is able to extend the possibilities of an acoustic piano. For this work, her bespoke piano holds her ancestral past (recordings of Armenian folkloric instruments), present (a recent field recording and voices of close friends) and an unknown future (explorative use of AI to “speak” the unspeakable by inverting her voice into piano).This new work for augmented acoustic piano, composed in response to the Jackman Humanities Institute’s annual theme: Dystopia and Trust. More information here.
